iPATH.Berlin – Core Unit Immunopathology for Experimental Models and KÜHLab
Usage Guideline

The core unit iPATH.Berlin – Immunpathology for Experimental Models is a translational institution as part of the research infrastructure of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. This core unit supports your research inside and out of the Charité with regard to histopathological analysis of experimental models for human diseases in basic medicine and biology.

You work with experimental models and want to see how the local tissue organization reflects the findings you made with other techniques e.g., immunobiology, molecular biology?

The iPATH.Berlin gives you the opportunity to relate your findings to tissue sections. Findings with immune cells isolated from a given tissue will now be analysed with regard to spatial allocation and tissue context. For this analysis, iPATH.Berlin provides a full service for histopathology for experimental models of human diseases. This includes tissue embedding, the staining of tissue sections and microscopic analysis of tissue derived from e.g., mouse models.

What is the advantage of tissue analysis by iPATH.Berlin? 

You give your samples into very experienced and highly qualified hands. In 2003, the team of the iPATH.Berlin started working on central service projects within the collaborative research centers SFB633 und SFB650 that were funded by the DFG. Originating from the Institute of Pathology and the Medical Department of Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases and Rheumatology the iPATH.Berlin is continuously broadening its horizon on the field of immunopathology.

The microscopic analysis is done in a blinded fashion.

The research topics of iPATH.Berlin focus on the intestinal immune system.
